To address the operational stability challenges posed by high penetration of renewable energy in new power systems
the scientific configuration and efficient operation of grid-side energy storage are critical. This paper investigates the planning and operation of grid-side energy storage. At the configuration level
a site selection and capacity optimization model for energy storage is established
targeting optimal life-cycle cost-benefit while balancing system peak shaving
frequency regulation
and reliability requirements. At the operational level
a multi-timescale coordination strategy integrating generation
grid
storage
and load is designed to enable flexible interaction and optimized dispatch between storage and other system resources. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed configuration and coordinated operation approach effectively enhances the system's integration capacity for wind and solar power
strengthens grid stability
and delivers significant economic benefits. This provides a feasible solution for grid-side energy storage applications within the new power system.
