Flywheel energy storage systems for a 1.5 MW wind generator applications

Abstract: This paper reports a study on the use of flywheel technology for energy storage in a 1.5 MW wind generator. The results show that the system performance meets the requirements of smoothing power output. Further discussion is made on the charge/discharge modes for energy conversion system.
